Caitlyn Scaling: Grade A

AGreat lateat full build, coordinated fights

Yes. Caitlyn scales well into the late game. Grade A, Great late, in The Scaling Codex.

Reviewed for League of Legends Season 16 (2026).

Verdict. Great late game, but loses some early trap and ultimate power. Not quite the highest range in the game.

Why Caitlyn gets an A

Distance is the stat the late game respects most, and her whole design is built on it. Headshots arrive from outside the range where most champions are allowed to answer, and traps turn fixed ground into places the enemy has to walk around. Objective fights happen over fixed ground, so her traps usually know where people are going.

Her range is good, not the best

The caveats in the verdict are relative rather than fatal. Traps that once won lanes now mostly shape space, and Ace in the Hole matters less once everyone has shields and peel.

She is also not the longest range in the game, so against true artillery she cannot win a spacing war by standing still. The net and the traps have to keep manufacturing the gap her damage depends on.

The rule

Every step forward is range you are giving away. Sell the headshot at full distance or do not take the shot.

How this grade was judged

The grade weighs range, target access, sustained and burst damage, crowd control, mobility, durability, healing and shielding, resets, cooldown structure, objective and formation control, split pressure, and how well the champion survives a long fight. Builds and forms that scale differently are graded separately. This is Vambient's gameplay evaluation of coordinated late-game fights, not a win-rate calculation. Full methodology.

Related champions

The grade measures one thing: how much a champion can influence a coordinated late-game objective fight once both teams reach full builds. It does not measure early strength, snowballing, or win rate. A weak late-game champion still wins by ending the game first, which is what the rest of the library teaches.
