Aurelion Sol Scaling: Grade S

SBest lateat full build, coordinated fights

Yes. Aurelion Sol is one of the strongest late-game champions in the game. Grade S, Best late, in The Scaling Codex.

Reviewed for League of Legends Season 16 (2026).

Verdict. Infinite Stardust scaling gives him unmatched late-game range, plus an AoE displacement ultimate with very high damage, mobility, and crowd control.

Why Aurelion Sol gets an S

Stardust does not cap. It keeps adding range and damage after the build is finished, so he is still getting stronger at the point where most champions have stopped. His ultimate is very large, displaces a grouped team, and the rest of the kit combos into it.

The range is what changes the game. As the stacks accumulate, he controls more of the space around an objective without moving closer himself.

Stacks are earned, and that takes time

He only gets there if the game gives him the farm to do it. Under-stacked, he has the same buttons and less range and damage behind them, and the ultimate is more likely to catch one person than to control the approach.

The ultimate is also easier to manage when the enemy spreads, though only the first half of it. Spreading dodges the star. The shockwave that expands out of the impact still reaches them, still slows, and cannot be blocked, so a scattered team eats the setup even when it avoids the knockup. What spreading takes away is the decisive part: one displacement that catches the whole formation instead of one or two players.

The rule

Stacks are the build. Farm them like items.

How this grade was judged

The grade weighs range, target access, sustained and burst damage, crowd control, mobility, durability, healing and shielding, resets, cooldown structure, objective and formation control, split pressure, and how well the champion survives a long fight. Builds and forms that scale differently are graded separately. This is Vambient's gameplay evaluation of coordinated late-game fights, not a win-rate calculation. Full methodology.

Related champions

The grade measures one thing: how much a champion can influence a coordinated late-game objective fight once both teams reach full builds. It does not measure early strength, snowballing, or win rate. A weak late-game champion still wins by ending the game first, which is what the rest of the library teaches.
