Ornn Scaling: Grade A

AGreat lateat full build, coordinated fights

Yes. Ornn scales well into the late game. Grade A, Great late, in The Scaling Codex.

Reviewed for League of Legends Season 16 (2026).

Verdict. The only true team-scaling tank. Masterwork upgrades permanently raise the whole team's power, so he scales through his teammates, not his own damage. Can approach S depending on composition.

Why Ornn gets an A

His scaling lives in his teammates' item slots. Masterwork upgrades are permanent stat increases on four other champions, so at full build his team is effectively playing with more gold than the enemy's. No defensive item answers that, because it is not on his sheet to answer.

He still turns up as a real tank with real engage. The ram starts fights on his timing and the knockup at the end gives his upgraded carries something to follow.

The upgrades multiply what the team already is

Four scaling carries make the forge an S-tier argument. A team of early-game champions gets upgraded into a slightly better version of a composition that still falls off.

The upgrades also have to be forged before the deciding fight rather than sitting unclaimed.

The rule

Forge before the fight, then engage for the carries you upgraded.

How this grade was judged

The grade weighs range, target access, sustained and burst damage, crowd control, mobility, durability, healing and shielding, resets, cooldown structure, objective and formation control, split pressure, and how well the champion survives a long fight. Builds and forms that scale differently are graded separately. This is Vambient's gameplay evaluation of coordinated late-game fights, not a win-rate calculation. Full methodology.

Related champions

The grade measures one thing: how much a champion can influence a coordinated late-game objective fight once both teams reach full builds. It does not measure early strength, snowballing, or win rate. A weak late-game champion still wins by ending the game first, which is what the rest of the library teaches.
