Ryze Scaling: Grade S
Yes. Ryze is one of the strongest late-game champions in the game. Grade S, Best late, in The Scaling Codex.
Reviewed for League of Legends Season 16 (2026).
Verdict. Top-tier damage and tankiness combo along with a game-changing ultimate.
Why Ryze gets an S
His damage scales with mana, so the items that make him hit harder also make him harder to remove. At full build he is a carry the enemy has to kill through both the health those items bought and a short-cooldown rotation that keeps rooting and bursting while they try. Very few damage threats get to be that durable without giving up output.
Realm Warp moves a whole team through terrain, which creates flanks, objective steals and cross-map plays that positioning alone does not answer.
Realm Warp still needs a good destination
Warping five players into a bad fight is the fastest loss this champion offers. The destination needs vision, a target, and follow-up understood before the portal opens.
His sustained rotation also needs the fight to last. Pure burst teams can remove the value before it accumulates.
Realm Warp does not win fights. It picks which fight happens. Choose the one they have not prepared for.
The flank Realm Warp creates
Warping behind the formation starts the fight from an angle the enemy did not cover. Ryze can then root the first target while his team collapses from the flank.

How this grade was judged
The grade weighs range, target access, sustained and burst damage, crowd control, mobility, durability, healing and shielding, resets, cooldown structure, objective and formation control, split pressure, and how well the champion survives a long fight. Builds and forms that scale differently are graded separately. This is Vambient's gameplay evaluation of coordinated late-game fights, not a win-rate calculation. Full methodology.

The grade measures one thing: how much a champion can influence a coordinated late-game objective fight once both teams reach full builds. It does not measure early strength, snowballing, or win rate. A weak late-game champion still wins by ending the game first, which is what the rest of the library teaches. How the grades are decided.
