Jarvan IV Scaling: Grade A
Yes. Jarvan IV scales well into the late game. Grade A, Great late, in The Scaling Codex.
Reviewed for League of Legends Season 16 (2026).
Verdict. Very strong late game. Damage scaling and team-wide utility hold up until very late. Ultimate is incredibly game-changing against flash-less targets.
Why Jarvan IV gets an A
He keeps doing things for the team after his personal damage stops being the headline. The flag gives team-wide value, the armor reduction improves somebody else's damage, and Cataclysm can turn one missing Flash into the only fact that matters in the fight.
That is why the grade survives full build. Damage gets answered by defensive items. Utility keeps paying everyone.
Cataclysm needs the right target
A game-changing ultimate is not automatically a good cast. Trapping three enemies in a ring with your own carry can lose the fight faster than doing nothing.
The target needs no Flash, no clean exit, and enough of your team's damage arriving with you.
Ultimate the player who cannot leave, not the player you hope your team will kill.

How this grade was judged
The grade weighs range, target access, sustained and burst damage, crowd control, mobility, durability, healing and shielding, resets, cooldown structure, objective and formation control, split pressure, and how well the champion survives a long fight. Builds and forms that scale differently are graded separately. This is Vambient's gameplay evaluation of coordinated late-game fights, not a win-rate calculation. Full methodology.

The grade measures one thing: how much a champion can influence a coordinated late-game objective fight once both teams reach full builds. It does not measure early strength, snowballing, or win rate. A weak late-game champion still wins by ending the game first, which is what the rest of the library teaches. How the grades are decided.
